Local swimming pools
In Iceland we have a lot of local swimming pools and the tradition of public bathing has become deeply rooted in the local culture. Visiting the local swimming pools is an amazing way to relax and get ready for the day or unwind after a long day. How charming is it to have a nice chat and lay in a hot tub at a local swimming pool with a friend or your lover while the raindrops keep falling on you. Going to the swimming pools is a great way to experience a part of Icelandic culture.
Harpa Concert Hall
Harpa is the big glass building down by the harbour in the heart of Reykjavík and it is easy to say that it is one of Reykjavik’s distinguished landmarks. Harpa is a concert hall and conference centre. Whether you want to go to a concert, enjoy the stunning views of the surroundings, take a look at the buildings architecture or simply enjoy a nice evening dinner Harpa is a must see when you visit Reykjavík. If it is raining outside you have no excuse for not going.
Kolaportið
Kolaportið is an Icelandic flea market located downtown Reykjavík by the harbour. At Kolaportið you will find new or second hand goods all from clothes to books. There is also a food section there where you will be able to find some Icelandic traditional food. Kolaportið is the biggest flea market in Iceland so it is safe to say that it is quite an experience to go there. The market is only open on Saturdays and Sundays from 11. Am to 5. Pm.
Coffeehouse
Here in Iceland we have a lot of cosy and nice coffeehouses. On a rainy day find a nice coffeehouse near you, grab a book with you and enjoy a warm cup of coffee. If you do not have any book with you we recommend the coffeehouse Te og Kaffi at Eymundsson bookstore. It is located at Skólavörðustígur downtown Reykjavík. Whether you are having a nice chat with your friend or reading a nice book or a magazine this is a perfect way to enjoy your afternoon.
