BOOKING A TOUR

Mountaineers of Iceland are a tour operator and a travel agency operating on Iceland’s second-largest glacier, Langjökull. Bookings are made through our website (www.mountaineers.is), through our email (@mountaineers.is) or a selected third party travel agency.

While processing your booking you are responsible for providing us with all the necessary information needed to contact you if needed. When the booking is finalized you will receive a voucher which is your proof of purchase. If something is unclear regarding the booking please notify us and let us help you out.

PICK-UP & DROP-OFF

When traveling in tours with pick-up service you are responsible to be at the right time and the pick-up location selected. Providing us with your phone number is really helpful but no-shows will be fully charged if needed. Please note that the pick-up time and departure time can be different. If you should miss the pick-up note that you are not entitled to a refund. Please contact us as soon as possible if this should happen.

RETURN TIMES

Please note that indicated return times are used as a frame of reference. We are operating in the highlands so return times can vary due to weather conditions.

LIMITATIONS

Pregnant women are prohibited from participating in snowmobile activity.

Children under the age of six (6) years are prohibited from participating in the snowmobile activity.

People with disabilities might have to provide their aids to assist themselves, as necessary. We operate in the highlands and facilities are limited.

EXCLUDED

Unless specifically listed, meals and refreshments are not included. During full-day excursions, we always stop at a place where it’s possible to buy lunch.

RISKS

It is important to understand that while in Iceland you could experience all four seasons in less than one day. It is vital to wear comfortable and appropriate clothing to be able to enjoy the excursions to the fullest. Warm, windproof clothing in addition to good, sturdy shoes should do the trick.
Tours offered and operated by Mountaineers of Iceland involve the operation of Snowmobiles in an environment which may be very different from the kind of environment you are used to. The terrain and weather conditions in this area, especially during the winter, carry with them inherent risks, safety risks. You must understand and accept these risks before booking with us and embarking on your tour. The most significant risks are:

PARTICIPANTS REQUIREMENTS

Participants must notify guides if they have not been duly informed of the risks to their safety and property associated with participation in the tour.
Those that intend to operate the snowmobile must hold a valid driver’s license and be able to present it if required.

You’re making an informed decision to participate in the tour.

Participants must inform Mountaineers of Iceland beforehand of any health-related issue capable of affecting their safety or the safety of others during the tour, including epilepsy, asthma, diabetes, heart conditions, physical disabilities, pregnancy, or others (that could impact the tour).

Participants may not be under the influence of alcohol or any other substance capable of affecting their ability to participate safely in the tour.
Participants are aware that this tour/these tours can involve some risks, the person making the booking is responsible to inform all participants under that booking.
Participants are required to follow all written and verbal safety instructions given to them by the representatives of Mountaineers of Iceland before and during the tour.

PARTICIPANTS LIABILITY

Participants shall be aware that the operator’s liability extends only to accidents that derive from defects in or incorrect use of equipment by the company´s employees and/or carelessness on their part. You, the participant of this tour, bear all responsibility for damage caused by you due to your carelessness or failure to follow set/given/published instructions. The liability cost for each damaged snowmobile is maximum 150.000 ISK

INSURANCE POLICIES HELD BY MOUNTAINEERS OF ICELAND

The snowmobiles of Mountaineers are insured with TM under a compulsory Motor Third Party Liability Insurance according to the Icelandic Motor Insurance Act no. 30/2019. This insurance does not include Driver´s Accident Insurance.
All cars, trucks, and buses are insured under a compulsory Motor Third Party Liability Insurance. This insurance provides accident insurance for all passengers while inside those vehicles.
Mountaineers of Iceland hold a general third party liability insurance, e.g. against mistakes made by our guides, etc.

Mountaineers of Iceland strongly recommend that all travelers take out travel insurance to insure themselves against accidents. Snowmobile accidents can be at the participants’ own risk if the accident is not directly related to incorrect actions of a Mountaineers employee or another third party.

Mountaineers of Iceland recommend that EU residents take their European Health Insurance Card with them to Iceland.

BOOKINGS

Seats cannot be guaranteed unless reserved or booked before scheduled departure time.

PRICES

Tours and services are subject to currency fluctuation and conditions of cooperative contractors that may provide transportation and other services. Prices displayed on our website include the Icelandic VAT. Mountaineers of Iceland is obligated to return these funds to authorities. The typical VAT on all tours is 11% of the price.

LEGAL

Mountaineers of Iceland are registered in Iceland as Skálpi ehf. Mountaineers of Iceland operates under Icelandic laws and regulations. Should there be a legal dispute it shall be settled with the District Court of Reykjavík. Skálpi ehf. is registered at Köllunarklettsvegur 2, 104 Reykjavík, Iceland.

LANGUAGES

Guidance is in English and Icelandic.

LIABILITY

Mountaineers of Iceland reserve the right to alter routes and itineraries without prior notice, should the necessity arise. No liability is accepted for losses or expenses due to delays or changes of arrival or departure of flights or other services, injury, sickness, accident, strikes, damage, negligence, weather, war, or other causes outside the control of Mountaineers of Iceland. All such losses and expenses are the personal liability of the traveler.

CONFIDENTIALITY

Neither party shall disclose the terms and conditions of this Agreement or the pricing contained therein to any third party except as required by applicable law, rule, or regulation. Provided, however, that either party may disclose such terms, conditions, or pricing to legal, accounting, and professional advisors bound by formal ethical or fiduciary duties requiring such advisors to treat, hold and maintain such information in accordance with the terms and conditions of this Agreement. Except as set forth in Appendices, neither party shall use the name of the other party in publicity, advertising, or similar activity, without the prior written consent of the other.

Mountaineers of Iceland accept the following credit cards via Borgun: Mastercard, Maestro, Visa, Visa Electron, UnionPay, JCB, Diners, Discover, and American Express.

Accepted credit cards

Personal information associated with credit cards might pass our system as per our agreement with the payment processor. However, Mountaineers of Iceland will never disclose any personal information, associated with credit cards, to third parties.

CANCELLATION POLICY

Reservations can be canceled 24 hours before departure without penalty. Cancellations received less than 24 hours before departure will be charged full price.
