Delve into the magic of Iceland’s south coast.
We commmence our journey by driving in modified super trucks along the south shore, heading for one of the places that Icelanders appreciate most, Þórsmörk (The Woods of Thor). First stop is at the Icelandic Horse Visitor Center where you can meet the Icelandic horses close up, enjoy an exhibition about horses throughout history and, if you’d like, relax with a cup of coffee. The next stop is at Seljalandsfoss Waterfall where you can take the path behind the falls and gaze through Seljalandsfoss into the distance beyond. As we make our way to Þórsmörk in the security of our super jeep, we cross quite a few unbridged glacial rivers. Þórsmörk, situated in a valley south of Iceland is surrounded by three glaciers and mountains, which create favourable growing conditions for over 170 plant species. Many walking paths are marked in Þórsmörk, making it an ideal place for short hikes with views of glaciers, woodlands and other colorful landscapes. We might even take you to see some of our favorite spots, hidden between rocks and crags. Remember to look around: from Þórsmörk, it it possible to eye the infamous volcano that in 2010 erupted in Eyjafjallajökull Glacier resulting in the largest air-traffic halt since WWII.
Please note: Operation and choice of roads are based on prospective weather and road conditions.
We recommend you bring: Warm & wind proof clothing in addition to good, waterproof hiking boots and a camera.
